Here is the link to the show Law & Disorder if you didn’t get a chance to hear it.

  • Question: I got in an auto accident caused by bad tires on my work truck. My boss knew about it for over a month. He wants me to pay the company’s deductible because employees are responsible for all fees and deductibles per the employee handbook that he makes all employees sign the paper agreeing to the company rules. Do I have a case?
  • Answer: You probably are going to need to file a Workers Comp. claim. Just give us a call and we will point you in the right direction.
  • Question: I work for the biggest Choir system and an aggressive autistic student was put in my classroom. The student broke my finger, punched me in the mouth, and flipped tables. This went on for a year. I now have permanent damage to my hand. They paid for therapy and kept sending me to the walk-in clinic. Is there anything I can do?
  • Answer: This appears to be a Workers Comp. issue as you got hurt on the job. If you have permanent injuries, there may be further action you can take. Give us a call and we will refer you to the right person.
  • Question: About six years ago my girlfriends’ late husband lent a friend $5,000 before he died. The guy never paid it back. Can she go after him and take him to court to get the $5,000 back? She asked a different lawyer and he said it wasn’t worth pursuing.
  • Answer: If he lent the money 5 years ago and was supposed to pay that back within a certain time frame, you might be dealing with a breach of contract. You would need to find out when the deal was made. If it was over 5 years, you may have a problem as the statute of limitations may have run.
  • Question: Can you receive unemployment if your boss fires you immediately after putting in your two weeks’ notice?
  • Answer: Normally, you cannot collect unemployment if you quit. In this case, you might be owed for the two weeks but that might be it.
  • Question: My mother in law slipped and fell on a rug at the vet. She broke her right arm requiring plates being put in to put her arm back together. Along with her new pain from her back, neck and leg.
  • Answer: Contact us as this is a premises case.
  • Question: Is it legal for a company to take money from your paycheck without your permission?
  • Answer: If they don’t pay you the amount that you are owed, you may take them to court.
