Well, we did it, we survived the great tornado outbreak of 2023 and to those who had that on their bingo card, you're one step closer to winning the grand prize (which is nothing, we give you people enough free stuff as it is!) Since we all assumed we were going to die, that meant all of our embarrassing geeky things that we love would never be revealed and would be going to the grave with us. The joke though was on us, of course, as we survived and today is actually National Embrace Your Geekness Day. After regaling us with a bunch of Wimbledon stuff, we dug right into what makes us here on the Angi Taylor Show dorks. For Abe, it's his not at all secret love of wrestling. He not only flies his wrestling freak flag high but he took the moment to rub it into those who talk smack about wrestling. This past week, WWE Smackdown was the number 1 show on TV when it came to the ratings. Apparently, just because it's summer and there's nothing else on TV aside from reality TV due to the writers strike, Abe was proud of this. Now, I too love some wrasslin' (Moxley is daddy) but apparently it's now cool to love wrestling. This was also great news for Jay the Straight, who had to hide his fandom for 6 months from Angi when they were first dating. It wasn't until she walked in and he fumbled the remote like he was watching porn that she realized he loved it. He did, as expected though, have a mild meltdown because until then he had been stuck secretly watching it in the bathroom or in the middle of the night. Angi though is no one to talk to because her geekiness lies in a love of flea markets. She is totally into vintage, antiques and according to Abe, things covered in raw sewage. As for myself, I'm an avid gamer with my primary being Fortnite and a ton of other single player stuff. I guess I should feel ashamed that I'm my age and currently level 234 for this season of Fortnite. Right, we've overshared so let's go see what the roadies had to say before I regret putting this nonsense to print. Mike is an avid fan of Angi Taylor which should make him a geek alone but his is that he plays Pokemon Go. Angi was shocked by this because she had no idea the game still existed outside of its initial explosive time when it was the hottest thing under the sun. Abe, an expert on Pokemon Go because of his friend (and guy I graduated with) Joe Gaska, asked if Mike is currently holding any gyms. Mike not only is but also held one for 3 months at one point. Abe gave us a six hour tutorial on how gyms work in Pokemon Go which mainly had him explaining that you "do it on the app and throw balls at each other." You could tell Angi was incredibly impressed by all of this and with all the details given, Cathy Tropicana may need to watch out for ladies attempting to steal her man. Tammy is apparently really into the Titanic, which she has loved since she was 7. She is glued to anything and everything sunken ship and even goes to conventions. Angi wondered if perhaps she was a passenger in a past life and explained how she thinks her daughter might have been Asian given her obsession with anime and taking Mandarin in school. We also learned that Tammy has met a ton of people in the Titanic community, including one of the people who died on the imploding sub. This was obviously a big blow to an extremely interconnected community. Jerry the iron worker can not beat his addiction to tennis and chess. He played tennis for 20 years and just can't let it go, making sure that he caught as much as he could of Wimbledon during work. He's also on chess.com and Abe angled to play him because that's Abe's other secret geek love, men...err chess. Other Stuff from Today's Show

On a day that was as random as tornadoes almost actually touching down in downtown Chicago, we got a nice mixed bag of other fun stuff this morning. From Abe learning about "skip lagging," to a discussion on how I once catfished his friend to why Angi won't have a toilet in her new house, there's plenty to indulge in. Let's start with the teenager who booked a flight to New York and had a layover in Charlotte. He ended up having his ticket canceled over a "skip lagging" violation and had to have a full price non stop flight booked instead. Now, "skip lagging" for those unaware, is when you book a flight that has a layover in your intended destination and you just never get on the second leg of your flight. Because this is normally cheaper than a direct flight, people love to do it to save money. Abe had no idea this was a thing and now wants to do it all the time. However, he should be more careful than the teen who was flagged after they noticed his North Carolina license and then asked him if he intended to ditch the second half of the flight. Once confirmed, they canceled his ticket and made him get the non stop one. In typical fashion, Abe's outrage spiraled as he couldn't assess why this was such a big deal. Angi assumes it concerns safety issues but Abe was quick to offer ways to accidentally miss flights. What if you're eating or in Abe's case you ate and it's been 5 mins so now he's in the bathroom for 45 minutes. He's also seen people miss flights and so he's decided to take part in the cause. By this I mean Abe now wants to try this himself but will use the bathroom trick. Once the flight starts boarding, he will just run out of the airport.

Onward we go to online where we explored some social media fun. Angi posed a question to Abe on whether or not he's ever gotten into a fight with a celebrity online. It turns out he has and it involved former UFC fighter Tito Ortiz (I remember this very well.) It all spawned when Abe was hosting his own show and Tito missed two call-ins two weeks in a row only to finally check in 45 minutes late on the second show. Abe said "something" to him (if I recall, it was about Jenna Jameson) and Tito took to Twitter to smack talk Abe. Abe in turn called him a bitch. The reality of what actually happened by the way is entirely different and if you want to hear the actual Twitter exchange where Abe did not call him a bitch after all, check out the podcast. Anyway, Angi explained that 1 in 5 people say they've gotten into fights with a celebrity online. This led to an expanded list of what are considered "social media sins" or things you probably shouldn't be doing. For example, arguing with random people. 38% of those polled say they have done it but Angi feels that the number should be much high. The thing is, rage baiting on social media is so easy and even though it's apparent, people can't help but take it. Another sin is to post when you're angry and then you end up regretting it which Angi is definitely guilty of doing. Sending sexually provocative messages (God, the thirstyish things I've said sometimes but I mostly keep it tame.) Regretful drunk stuff is another and Angi and I are in that boat together. The amount of drunk tweets and messages I have left should be considered criminal. Posting mean or aggressive comments is another and that is a fun sin we all love to commit. Posting pictures without permission is something Angi & Abe never do because they have been the victim of posting pig looking pics too many times. Also tossing up "revealing" images of oneself aka Thirst Trap Taylor. In this segment we also revealed that like 15 years ago, when catfishing was new to the scene, Abe had me catfish a friend of his for a radio bit. He left off the part where I was initially tasked with catfishing Rob Kardashian and MTV reality celebrities but whatever, it was a funny bit. We closed this with Abe's delusion of beating up Mark Zuckerberg once again showing up.

Finally, Amazon Prime day has come and gone once more and though none of us bought anything exciting (my sister did spend $1,300 though,) Angi gave us a list of some of the most bought things over the last two days. The hottest was Temptations cat treats, followed by Amazon Fire TV sticks, Liquid IV Hydration, Melissa & Doug products and Laneige makeup. The average money spent by most people was $30 bucks. As I said, nothing exciting was bought but there was temptation on Angi's part to buy a super ultra mega toilet that was $30 off. Since she didn't buy the toilet that does everything but give you a handy, she will now be going to the bathroom in her front yard of the new house. As for Abe, he did buy an Ultrasafe Lithium Jumpstarter Box which is used to jump start your car. He got it for $70 since it was originally $100 and it made sense to splurge. Now he has that, his tire inflator and all he's really missing is the extra catalytic convertor as that will be totally stolen soon.
