Major transformation coming to South Philly Sports Complex

Plans are already in the works- only in the beginning phases, but we are getting quite the upgrade down by all the stadiums.

A new $2.5 billion plan to transform the South Philadelphia Sports Complex in the coming years. The plans include hotels, new paved walkways, retail/restaurants, and a brand new concert venue. There are also plans in motion for apartments and office space but nothing's concrete there yet. (These plans would be part of a "phase 2" and would possibly include connections to FDR Park). Phase 1 will take place in what is currently Lots G and H at the Sports Complex.

According to 6abc:
The Xfinity Live! upgrades are expected to be finished next year or early 2026, and then the goal is to have the rest of Phase 1 finished by 2028.
So Phase 1 is happening but there's also a Phase 2 in the works, which they are still planning and would need development rights.
The idea is to develop a new district with residences, retail, restaurants and green space, and do this within the next decade if all goes to plan.
However, we should keep in mind that this announcement comes as the Sixers, the largest tenant of the Wells Fargo Center, still plans to build its own arena and move to Center City in 2031.
