FALSE: Story Of The Frito-Lay Janitor Who 'Invented' Flamin' Hot Cheetos

Richard Montañez has told the story for a decade...turns out it is B.S.

Full disclosure: I SO wanted to believe this American success story. A man working as a janitor at a large company that makes snack foods comes up with a brilliant new concept. That man, Richard Montañez was working as a janitor at Frito-Lay when he claimed to have come up with the idea of 'Flamin' Hot Cheetos'. He so believed in the idea that he directly reached out to the CEO of the company to present the idea. Montañez took a lot of heat for not following proper 'protocol' by reaching out to the CEO. It did not matter though, the idea took off, Flamin' Hot Cheetos became a huge hit and Montañez was on his way out of his janitorial duties and up the corporate ladder at Frito-Lay. What a GREAT story of success, the true 'American Dream', right? Just one problem: It's too good to be true. In fact, the tale is complete B.S. Now, there's a new biopic in the works that is going to dive into this in great detail. Can't wait for the 'movie'? No problem, read on for the details of how the story of Flamin' Hot Cheetos and the man who supposedly 'invented' them unraveled: CLICK HERE
