The Tampa Bay Rays (62-43) defeated the Cleveland Guardians (54-43) 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field. With the win, the Rays once again match a season-high at nineteen games above .500 and have swept the three-game series to start a nine-game homestand.
The only offense of the game came in the fifth inning when Cedric Mullins drove in a run on a bunt to make it 1-0. That would prove to be the final score, in part because of Drew Rasmussen (9-5, 3.07) allowing just one hit in his seven innings of work in which he struck out nine and walked one. Garrett Cleavinger worked a perfect eieghth inning before Bryan Baker worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 28th save.
The Rays are now off on Monday before beginning a three-game series against the Texas Rangers coming up on Tuesday night. Griffin Jax (6-7, 3.89) is scheduled start for the Rays in the first game of the three-game series against Texas. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
