The Toronto Blue Jays (47-56) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (59-43) 3-1 on Thursday afternoon at Rogers Centre in Toronto. With the loss, the Rays were unable to complete a sweep of the four-game series against their division rivals.
The Blue Jays got single runs in the first, third and seventh that would prove to be enough. The Rays only offense came from a Yandy Diaz RBI single in the third - Shane Bieber (2-1, 4.70) allowed just that one earned run in his seven innings of work to get the win for Toronto. Ian Seymour (6-3, 4.54) worked the last six innings of the losing effort for the Rays.
The Rays now return home and will face the Cleveland Guardians for a three game series beginning on Friday night. First pitch between the Rays and Guardians is scheduled for 7:10 PM on Friday night - pregame coverage begins with Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
