Instagram and WhatsApp are two of Facebook's most valuable properties, so, the name change is meant to showoff their ownership of both apps. Following the rebrand, the apps will be known as "Instagram from Facebook" and "WhatsApp from Facebook."

The new titles will in the title for both apps in the Apple's App Store, as well as Google Play. Once their downloaded on to your phone, however, the titles will appear as they always have. For now, at least. It's expected the working interface of the apps will remain the same, as well.
Though Facebook aims to make theirownership of both Instagram and WhatsAppmore well known, some tech insiders predict adding Facebook's branding to the apps may do more harm than good. Facebook's popularity has dipped in recent years, while Instagram and WhatsApp remain extremely popular.
