Florida Mayor Arrested For Beating Man With Rake at Hurricane Cleanup

A small-town Florida mayor was arrested and accused of beating a man with a rake during a Hurricane Ian cleanup at a local park in Indialantic. The mayor of Indialantic, 59-year-old David Berkman, was at Orlando Park participating in a debris cleanup when the victim began recording him on his cellphone. The victim told officers from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office that he began recording after Berkman allegedly made several comments about "kicking his ass."

Moments later, Berkman grabbed a rake and hit the victim's phone and face. The video has not been released, but authorities did say it lined up with the victim's statements to officers.
