Man attacks driver in handicap spot at South Florida McDonald's

Englewood, FL - A man was arrested after attacking an unsuspecting motorist parked in a handicap spot at a South Florida McDonald’s.

On May 18th, 36-year-old Joshua Reliford attacked a man sitting in a parked car at the McDonald’s on S. McCall Road in Englewood around 1:40 p.m.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, a woman told deputies her husband stopped at the restaurant to get napkins.

The woman was on her way back to the car when she saw Reliford grab her husband from the car and punch him multiple times.

Reilford allegedly pushed and punched the woman as she tried to breakup the fight.

The woman threatened to mace Reilford, who got on his motorcycle and fled the scene.

Deputies were able to identify Reilford after images of the suspect were released to the public.

Reliford admitted to the assault, telling deputies he didn’t want someone parking in the handicap area and blocking others from parking there.

The 36-year-old was arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail on charges of burglary with assault or battery and battery by intentional touch or strike.
