(Miami, FL) - Tropical Storm Rafael is churning in the Gulf with sustained winds of 60 mph just southeast of Grand Cayman, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Rafael's the 17th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season and is expected to become the eleventh hurricane.
The National Hurricane Center says the Lower and Middle Florida Keys are under a tropical storm watch and could experience tropical storm conditions beginning late Wednesday.
Eventually the system is expected to approach the Louisiana coastline early Sunday morning, according to the NHC forecast.
The rest of South Florida will experience stronger winds with gusts up to 30 mph throughout election day. A wind advisory is in effect for coastal Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
