With heatwaves striking around the world, the United Arab Emirates is taking matters into its own hands by using drones to make it rain. The drones give clouds an electric shock to force them to clump together and produce rain; Dubai says they’re also using cloud seeding to increase the amount of rain.

Is it working? Definitely. Video from the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology shows monsoon-like downpours all over the country, with waterfalls being seen on the sides of roads as SUV drivers struggle to drive. It’s part of an ongoing $15 million program to increase rain in one of the ten driest countries on Earth.
